Children with drug-resistant epilepsy across England will benefit from a major expansion of specialist brain surgery and assessment, the NHS has announced today.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is currently the main centre carrying out this type of highly specialised surgery. From November 2012 existing services in other parts of the country will be developed in Bristol, Manchester/Liverpool and Birmingham, enabling doctors to treat three times as many patients as they currently do.
